Universal Energy Corporation, Get a real JOB!

Bill and Bob can't even get a mop job at the local 7-11. That's no problem
Universal is always hiring for door to door bothering jobs

It seems to be the easiest thing in the world to get a job with this outfit. Since they so desperatley need people to $ell their garbage they at Universal Energy Corporation will interview anyone who is willing to humiliate themselves by having doors slammed in their faces. They did not even look at my resume, just can you come in tomorrow and even confirmed my appointment next day for me. What kind of employer does that in a REAL job?

The first unfortunate step to employment with Univer$al Energy Corporation
Fairview Mall's chamber of deception filled with first and last day's recruit's. The "Smelly Room" [called that because of the unwashed street-people and junkies who were there before] who are eager to know what they will be doing next.

The making of a 'Smelly Room' or 'Chamber of Deception'. This is rented out janitorial boiler room in a 'new' location with no address no phone number but many crevices for hiding.

I am a "manager" in Michigan....

From "Amber",

"My boyfriend applied for a job from a career bulider ad for an assistant manager position. The interview went well and they told him to come back next day for a second interview. He met with the hiring manager for 10 mins and was told he would be getting an overview of how the company works. He was then paired up with an employee in sales and taken in this person's personal vehicle to a close by neighborhood and went door-to-door with this person for 6 hours. He was told to memorize a sales pitch and try it out himself. Remember, this was suppose to be a "second interview" not to mention he was told to dress business casual so he had dress shoes on and had to walk around for 6 hours with his feet sore and with painful blisters. At 9:00 p.m., when he was taken back (finally!) to the office, a "hiring manager" was there and told him they would like him to start the following day. He said "is this for a management position because I don't know what that was that I just did for 6 hours. I'm not even in training and did not get paid for this". The guy told him oh yeah, manager, yeah, you'll get there but first you need to do sales for 4 weeks as part of your training and then we'll see where you're at and you should be promoted to assistant manager. I told him it's a scam and to get out! No company I know of runs this kind of operation. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with no medical benefits and you use your own car and pay your own gas - there is no base pay, you work only on commission. There is no background check on these workers so who knows if the person knocking on your door is shady or not. Plus, they just opened 2 offices in Southfield, Mi which are rented offices out of a large building and they are not listed in the white pages. I tried to do a company research in career builder and nothing came up for them. I think they are scamming people and will up and leave soon, moving on to another location. You should do more research on them as soon as possible."

Other ex-employees say....

I worked for UEC for awhile, not even realizing there was such a scam involved. They really keep you in the dark--shady with both the 'customer' at the door and their employees. Honestly, a lot of the 'salespeople' screw people over intentionally, they lie (albeit pretty much all the uppermanagement scam people intentionally), and will do anything for the 'sale' because they're so damn money hungry. It's disgusting.

I responded to a position for Universal Energy Corporation and was told that their are many positions for administration and accounting and should come in for an interview. When I arrived the receptionist got me to fill out a sheet of paper. I said to her, "So I heard this company is growing?" She replied "I can't talk about that.." then I already knew something was off. Why can't you talk to me about this company? Because you boss told you that the more information you give to us, the lesser chances are of us staying.

I saw an ad in the news paper "Earn $25/Hr" with a bunch of crap saying i can earn up to $800 in my first week. Sounds good eh? NO ITS NOT. I went to the interview, which in most scams, is a "group interview" so, i sat through the horrible interview with an over energetic, yappy, ugly woman. btw this is very much like the "vector marketing" scam, which i also attended but left after the frist "training session" So back to univer$al crap.

I sat through the interview, then after that finished we had "1 on 1" interview in a room with 15 other people, everyone said the same thing that they were energetic and excited about trying out the "energy industry".... so they said call back at 2:30 to 4pm and we will tell you if you have gotten the job or if you havent. So i called back, and ofcourse, exactly what i was expecting, "CONGRATULATIONS!!!! YOUVE GOTTEN THE JOB!!!" it was the overly excentric lady who did the interview. So she told me, RIGHT AWAY that i have to come to come on a job shadow with one of their employees... told me the time, date and everythign and was about to hang up and i said HOLD ON A MINUTE. what is this job exactly? she claimed it was a face to face marketing position. AHAHAHAHAH I asked her if i have to go door to door selling it and she hung up. Oh man what a sad excuse for a company man.. i dont know how these kind of companies still exist... how can i spread the word about this bullcrap?

My friend called me last week to say he took a job with them. However, I talked to him yesterday and he's no longer working there! He said they're a terrible bunch of people!! They wouldn't let him ask questions, saying that they're too negative. When he gave his experiences about people shutting the door in his face he was told to shut up and stop talking and trying to scare everyone. He wasn't - he was just telling his experiences! they would leave them in neighborhoods all day with no access to washrooms, restaurants etc. When he asked what he would have to do if he needed a washroom he was told to go and use the bushes!! He ended up in a big fight with some guy in the team and ended up quitting. They sound like a bunch of jerks who are just out to make money and don't care about their employees at all. Just for that reason alone, and not the other issue about the bills etc, I would avoid them like the plague!

December 29, 2007. Read what poor "Jules" went through

"Universal Energy just came to my door - banging on the door several times before I could get there. Then opening my screen door and banging again. I didn't open the door, but asked her what I could do for her. She insisted I open the door right now, she had something to show me (at 7:00 at night, very dark out and with no introduction and not to courteous) I told her I wasn't opening the door - if she had something to tell me she could tell me through the window - we could hear each other just fine, but she said she couldn't hear me. SHE said I was unprofessional for not opening the door and I needed to do so right now! I said no, and that she should leave now. She called me a bitch and left. I was uncomfortable and suspicious, so I called the cops on her. Are you kidding me? Is this how they get their customers? Good Luck!"
